Files your provider cannot read
Whatever you store, your storage provider can technically look at. If that thought bothers you, turn on encryption for the connection: files are scrambled on your machine before they upload, contents and even file names. To you it looks like a normal folder. To anyone else, including the provider, it is noise.
Works with rclone crypt
Varv uses the same proven encryption format as rclone crypt. If you already have encrypted remotes, they open as they are: browse them, add files, and rclone still reads everything you write. Import your rclone config and the connection sets itself up, password included.
Everything still works
Encrypted connections behave like every other connection. Browse, search, preview, drag files out, and the usual transfer queue handles big files with resume. The decryption happens quietly on your machine as you go.
On any storage
Encryption is a switch on the connection, not a special account type. It works on every S3 service, on FTP and on SFTP. A cheap storage box becomes private storage in one checkbox.
Your password stays yours
The encryption password lives in your system's keychain, like every other secret in Varv. It never appears in config files and never leaves your machine. Keep it safe: without it, encrypted files cannot be recovered by anyone, us included.

Flip one switch on a connection and everything you upload is unreadable to the outside world, while staying a normal folder to you.
