Connect to Hetzner Object Storage from Windows
Browse and transfer Hetzner Object Storage from a Windows desktop app. Credential setup in the Hetzner Cloud Console, location endpoints and quirks.
Get your keys
- In the Hetzner Cloud Console, open your project and go to Security, then the S3 Credentials tab.
- Click Generate credentials.
- Copy the Access Key and Secret Key.
Connect
- Add a new connection and choose the Hetzner preset.
- Pick the location your buckets live in and paste the keys.
- Connect. Buckets in that location appear right away.

Good to know
- Buckets are tied to the location they were created in. If a bucket seems missing, you are probably connected to the wrong location; add one connection per location you use.
- Credentials belong to a project. Keys from one project will not see another project’s buckets.
- Bucket names are unique across all Hetzner customers and all locations, so expect the obvious ones to be taken.
- Hetzner’s S3 implementation covers the standard operations the app uses for browsing, transfers, versioning and lifecycle rules.
